## Availability
A file in the drive has one of the following availabilities:
- Online only: the file is downloaded when it is opened. File Explorer shows a cloud icon.
- Available on this device: the file was downloaded and is stored on the computer.
- Always kept on this device: the file was chosen with "Always keep on this device" in File Explorer. Windows does not free its space.
- No longer in the drive: the file was removed in the platform or from the drive.
Windows frees the space of files that were not used for a while and that are not kept on the device. The file then becomes online only again. "Sync activity" shows this as "Space freed".
## Status
"Sync activity" shows one status per file:
- Done: the last action of the drive on the file has completed.
- Busy: the file is being downloaded or uploaded.
- Failed: the action did not succeed. "Notifications" tells why.
## Read-Only Drive
The drive is read-only until changes are allowed: files can be opened and copied, but nothing is written to Exact Online or another platform. File Explorer marks the files as read-only. A file that is changed anyway is not uploaded, and "Sync activity" shows it as "Not uploaded: the drive is read-only". See [[Invantive Drive/Procedures/Allow Changes in the Platforms|Allow Changes in the Platforms]].
## Conflicts
A conflict occurs when a file changed in the drive and in the platform. The drive keeps the local version next to the original, with the time of the conflict in its name, for example `Plan (conflict 2026-11-06 10.42).docx`. The user compares both and removes the one that is no longer needed.
