Invantive Drive stores the files it downloads in the drive folder, and its settings and state in a few other folders of the user. This topic lists where each is located, how much space it takes and which limits apply. ## Downloaded Files A document such as a PDF is stored in the drive folder `Invantive.Drive` in the user profile, that is `%USERPROFILE%\Invantive.Drive`. There is no separate download or temporary folder: the downloaded file replaces the placeholder in the drive folder. The location of the drive folder cannot be changed. The space used is the size of the files that were downloaded. Files that are online only take almost no space. See [[Invantive Drive/Concepts/Files and Their Status|Files and Their Status]]. Space is freed in two ways: - Removing the pin of a file that is in sync makes the file online only again at once. - Windows can free the space of files that are not kept on the device, for example through Storage Sense. A file that has not been used for some time can then be downloaded again. A copy kept because of a conflict is stored next to the original in the same folder. A file that exists only on the computer is put aside in the folder `Unsynced` described below. When Invantive Drive is uninstalled, local-only files go to the folder `Unsynced` on the desktop. ## Settings The settings are stored in the file `settings.json` in the folder `Prd\Invantive Drive` below the configuration folder of the Invantive products. The sign-in of the user is stored in `settings.connect.json` next to it, encrypted for the Windows user. Both files are small. See [[Invantive Drive/Configuration|Configuration]]. ## State on This Computer The folder `Invantive.Drive` in `%LocalAppData%` holds the state of the drive: - `mapping-<name>.db`: a small SQLite database that links folders and files to the versions in the platform. It holds no file content. A row is removed when its file or folder is deleted. The location can be changed with the environment variable `INVANTIVE_DRIVE_MAPPING_PATH`. - `sync-root.fingerprint` and `sync-root.manifest`: files that let the drive recognise changed settings and deletions made while it was stopped. - `engine-texts.txt`: the texts of the engine. The location can be changed with `INVANTIVE_DRIVE_TEXTS`. - `Unsynced`: one subfolder per time that files existing only on the computer were put aside. Invantive Drive does not remove them; remove a subfolder when its files have been dealt with. - `History`: one file per day with the activity shown in "Sync activity". Files older than 30 days are removed. At most 100,000 activity records are shown. The progress and errors that the engine reports are shown in the app and are not written to a log file. ## Caches of Invantive UniversalSQL Invantive Drive reads the platforms through Invantive UniversalSQL. The caches of Invantive UniversalSQL are located in the cache folder of the Invantive products. See [[Environment Variables/Folders|Folders]]. ## Limits The following limits apply: - The drive folder and the state are limited by the free space of the disk only. - A file is transferred in pieces of 1 MiB, so the memory used for a download stays at about one piece, also for large files. - A file uploaded to Exact Online can be at most 100 MiB. - A folder is checked for changes in the platform at most once every 30 seconds. Opening a folder or pressing F5 checks it at once. - A search returns at most 200 hits. - Other platforms have the size limits and rate limits of the platform itself. When a platform refuses an upload, "Notifications" tells why.
