A budget is the amount that is available to carry out part of a project. It is the approved starting point against which orders, invoices and the prognosis are compared. Budgets are registered per project and per cost type. See [[Invantive Estate/Concepts/Cost Types|Cost Types]]. ## Budget A budget names the project, the cost type and the amount. It has an explanation, which is often a short calculation, and it can have documents linked to it. The board judges budgets on the basis of an exposé, and the financial administration registers them per cost type. Revenue budgets and cost budgets are kept apart by the master roll up type of the cost type. The budgeted result of a project is the total of the revenue budgets minus the total of the cost budgets. For the cash flow, a budget holds an expected maturity, an expected end of the maturity and a distribution method. These fields are used only when the cash flow projection method needs them. See [[Invantive Estate/Concepts/Cash Flow Projections|Cash Flow Projections]]. ## Budget Movement A budget movement moves part of a budget from one cost type to another within a project. It has a from and a to cost type, an amount and an explanation, such as the cause or the person with whom the move was agreed. The budget after movements is the budget plus the movements to the cost type minus the movements from it. Moving budget between main cost categories is only allowed if the settings of the application allow it. ## Contract Budget A contract budget splits the budget of one cost type over the contracts under it. This shows a budget overrun as early as possible. The manual gives this example. A budget of EUR 500,000 is available for the purchase of five houses to be demolished. Each house has its own contract with a contract budget of EUR 100,000. The first resident asks EUR 120,000, so an order of EUR 120,000 is registered. The overrun of EUR 20,000 is visible at once, although the negotiations on the other houses are not finished. Contract budgets exist for cost types of the master roll up type "Costs" only. The field "Release Deviation" decides whether a surplus on the contract budget may offset a deficit elsewhere. See [[Invantive Estate/Concepts/Deviation and Prognosis|Deviation and Prognosis]]. ## Budget Next Phase When an exposé is approved, the project developer can start the realisation of the next phase. That phase usually needs a higher budget. The subject "Budget Next Phase" lets the developer register per cost type the budget that will be requested, with an explanation. The screen shows the budget after movements next to it and the deviation. ## Comment on Deviation A short explanation can be written for a cost type that exceeds its budget. The explanation tells the story behind the figures and appears in the reports. ## See Also - [[Invantive Estate/Concepts/Orders and Contracts|Orders and Contracts]] - [[Invantive Estate/Concepts/Latest Estimates and Expectations|Latest Estimates and Expectations]]
