Hours are the time that people spend on projects and processes. They are used to manage the use of manpower and to invoice hours to customers. The transfer from hours to invoice lines goes through the draft invoice lines. See [[Invantive Estate/Concepts/Invoices|Invoices]].
The following picture shows the list of hours of the demonstration database:

## Hour Registration
An hour registration holds:
- the person. Hours can be entered on behalf of other persons;
- the start date and time and the effort in hours;
- the type of labour, which groups hours and can change the cost that is allocated;
- an explanation and a location;
- either a process or a project. If a process is available, the hours should be linked to it, because hours by process can be analysed in more detail. Hours cannot be written to a closed process;
- an optional unit sales price, to invoice with another price, and the number of billable hours;
- a timesheet status.
The number of hours worked on a day compared to the hours to be worked is shown per week. The hours to be worked follow the working schedule of the person.
## Timesheet Status
The status of hours decides what may happen to them. A status can be:
- the start status or an end status;
- "Actuals", when the hours are realised and not planned;
- "Ready for invoicing" or "Booked", when the hours are invoiced and booked.
A status also decides which fields may be changed: the comments, the start, the location, the notes, the project, the process, the effort and the type of labour, and whether hours may be deleted. A role can be named that can change the hours despite this. Statuses are connected by timesheet status transitions.
## Working Schedules
A working schedule says when a person works, for example "40 hours per week" or "32 hours per week, every Wednesday free". Exceptions to a schedule, such as holidays, are registered separately.
## Project Allocations
A project allocation assigns a person to a project. It holds:
- the start and the planned end date, where the end date is the day up to which the allocation runs, not including that day;
- the working schedule, the type of labour and the location;
- the minimum and maximum number of hours, and the percentage of the schedule that goes to the project;
- the indicators "Legally Binding", "Extendable" and "Optional Prolongation", the last meaning the client can extend it and the company cannot end it on its own;
- the date of the next review.
## Planning and the Calendar
Hours can also be planned and registered from the calendar of Microsoft Outlook. See [[Invantive Estate/Invantive Estate for Outlook|Invantive Estate for Outlook]].
