Invantive Estate records the organisations and persons that take part in projects. They are used as customers, suppliers, employees and contacts, and they are the users of the application.
The following picture shows the list of persons of the demonstration database:

## Organisation
An organisation can be used as a customer of a project, as a supplier (the party that carries out an order), as the counterparty of invoices and as the project entity of a project. It can also be used to record other organisations involved.
An organisation holds:
- a code, a name and a short name;
- the addresses, telephone numbers, email and website, the chamber of commerce number, the VAT number and the bank account;
- the roles it can play: "Customer", "Supplier" and "Project entity";
- the primary contact, the sales contact and the purchasing contact, who are persons;
- the account manager and the preferred engineers;
- the legal form, the language and the selling and purchasing conditions;
- relations to other organisations, with a relation type such as supplier, competitor, partial interest or establishment;
- classifications and documents.
A supplier is a subcontractor or counterparty who can carry out an order. Some organisations are not real organisations. They are suppliers used to allocate costs to when the costs cannot be assigned to a legal person, for example a journal entry that charges general expenses such as property or heating to a project. Such a supplier is not marked as a contractor.
## Person
A person is a physical person who uses Invantive Estate, or whose data is registered in it. A person can be an employee, a contact at a supplier or a private individual.
A person holds the name, initials and unique initials, the function, department and organisation, the manager, the contact data, the language and the working schedule. The unique initials are used in reports and screens where there is not enough room for the whole name. A person can have skills, which are used when planning processes. See [[Invantive Estate/Invantive Estate for Outlook|Invantive Estate for Outlook]].
Persons with a user name can use the application. To use screens and reports they need roles, and for projects they need project authorisations. See [[Invantive Estate/Concepts/Security|Security]].
The user `system` is a special user. It is used to install the application and its new versions and to create the first users. It cannot be deleted and has unlimited access to all screens and information.
## Involvement
An involvement ties a person or organisation to a project, a process, a document or another organisation, with an involvement role. Involvement roles are reference data. An involvement can also hold limits, which a status transition can check.
## Classification
A classification is a label that can be linked to a project, an organisation, a process, a document or a person, to find information faster.
