This tour explores Invantive Estate on the demonstration database. The database needs no Oracle and no network. How to obtain and start it, and what the connection attributes `dummy-data-folders`, `dummy-data-writable` and `dummy-rebase` do, is described in [[Invantive Estate/Demo Database|Demo Database]]. The data is invented. Do not use the database for production. ## Log On - Start Invantive Estate for Windows. - In the log-on window select "Estate demo (Dummy)" in the group "Various". - Select "Connect". No user name or password is asked for. The user is `SAMPLE`. The product opens on the [[Invantive Estate/Screens/Dashboard|dashboard]]. The cards shown depend on the rights of the user. The following picture shows the dashboard after logging on: ![[20261025-estate-dashboard.png]] ## What the Database Holds The tables with invented rows give a picture of a small development organisation: - 25 projects of the three types: individual, sub and master. See [[Invantive Estate/Concepts/Project|Project]]. - One project, with the code `Plein`, is filled far more than the others. It has 74 orders, 177 revenues and 287 invoice lines. It is the best project to follow the money from order to invoice. - 64 processes in several categories, among them change requests, sales of real estate, malfunctions and questions. See [[Invantive Estate/Concepts/Processes|Processes]]. - 117 hours, 200 units, 80 documents, 75 orders and 80 invoices. - 95 project authorisations, 23 roles and 135 persons. See [[Invantive Estate/Concepts/Security|Security]]. - Reference data such as 13 product groups, 22 process statuses and 5 timesheet statuses. See [[Invantive Estate/Reference Data|Reference Data]]. The demonstration database holds no rows for budgets, contract budgets, latest estimates and expectations, and only two cash flow projections. Screens for these subjects open and show no rows. ## Follow a Project - Open "Projects" in the [[Invantive Estate/Screens/Navigation Tree|navigation tree]]. The first fifty projects appear as nodes, and the list on the right shows the same rows. - Open the project `Plein`. Its [[Summaries|summary]] shows the project and, on tabs, what hangs off it. - Open the tabs with orders, revenues and invoice lines. Each shows its rows as a [[Invantive Estate/Screens/Lists|list]]. Sort, group and filter them as described there. - Use "Explain Tabs" to see why a tab is shown or not. ## Follow a Process - Open "Processes" and sort on the status. The statuses of a support process, a sales process for units and an approval process for incoming invoices all occur. See [[Invantive Estate/Concepts/Processes|Processes]]. - Open a process and look at the tabs of its summary. ## Search Type a project code in the search box of the main window. See [[Invantive Estate/Screens/Search|Search]]. ## Rights Open "Role Authorisations" and "User Roles" in the navigation tree. They show the rights as matrices. See [[Authorisation Matrices]]. ## Change Data The tables are read-only. Set the connection attribute `dummy-data-writable` to `true` to try adding and changing rows. A change is kept in memory only, and logging on again restores the files. ## Dates Some reports look back a few days. The driver therefore moves the dates of the invented rows to the present, as the attribute `dummy-rebase` describes. A report that lists hours or news of "this week" thus shows rows, although the files are years old. ## Limits Actions that run PL/SQL on Oracle, such as posting a financial transaction, do not work. Documents and pictures are empty. See the limits on [[Invantive Estate/Demo Database|Demo Database]].
