A summary gathers everything about one row on a single screen. It opens from the navigation tree, or by opening a row of a [[Invantive Estate/Screens/Lists|list]]. The summary of an organisation, for instance, holds the organisation itself, its persons, its projects, its tasks, its documents, its invoice lines and its calls. ## Tabs A summary is a strip of tabs. The first tab shows the fields of the row itself, read only. Each further tab shows one thing that hangs off the row, either as a list or as the details of a single related row. A tab is filled at the moment it is chosen, not when the summary opens. A summary with thirty tabs therefore fetches little when it opens, and one tab more each time another one is chosen. The toolbar belongs to the tab in view: leaving a tab takes its buttons away and the tab chosen next brings its own. Tabs a user has no right to are left out, and so are tabs that make no sense for this row. The tab with banking details of an organisation stays away while the organisation has no bank. ## The Caption of a Tab The caption of a tab that carries a list ends in the number of rows on it, as in "Persons (14)". A caption of "(-)" means the tab has not been opened yet. The caption follows the relation rather than the subject, so one subject can return on several tabs under different names. The summary of an organisation shows its persons once as the list "Persons", and next to that a tab per role the organisation fills in, such as its contact person and its account manager. Those tabs each hold one person and are named after the role. ## Adding a Row on a Tab "Add" on a tab creates a row that already belongs to the row of the summary. Adding a person on the tab "Persons" of an organisation therefore opens an [[Edit Screens|edit screen]] with that organisation already filled in. What else the new row starts with is described under [[Edit Screens]]. ## Changing a Row The first tab of a summary is read only. "Edit" on the toolbar opens the row in an [[Edit Screens|edit screen]]. After saving, the summary shows the new values. Some subjects add their own actions to the first tab.
