The "Process Status Transition" screen registers and changes transitions between process statuses.
A transition specifies a valid change of the status of a process to a different status. Transitions allow workflows to be defined.
An additional business rule can enforce complex transitions.
The screen contains the following fields:
- "Process Category Old": A reference to the process category in the initial situation as registered in [[Invantive Estate/Subjects/Administration/Process Note Categories|Process Categories]].
- "Process Category New": A reference to the process category in the new situation as registered in [[Invantive Estate/Subjects/Administration/Process Note Categories|Process Categories]].
- "Process Status from": A reference to the process status in the initial situation as registered in [[Invantive Estate/Subjects/Administration/Process Status|Process Statuses]].
- "Process Status to": A reference to the process status in the new situation as registered in [[Invantive Estate/Subjects/Administration/Process Status|Process Statuses]].
- "Role": A reference to a role as registered in [[Invantive Estate/Subjects/Administration/Roles|Roles]]. The role indicates which role is necessary to make the process status transition possible.
- "Involvement Role": A reference to an involvement role as registered in [[Invantive Estate/Subjects/Administration/Involvement Roles|Involvement Roles]]. The involvement role indicates which involvement role is necessary to make the process status transition possible.
- "Start": The start time of the process status transition.
- "End": The process status transition is allowed until this date.
- "Minimal Limit": The minimum value of the limit of user involvement that allows this status transition. The limit relates to the process, project, organisation or involvement role. The first of these with a value is used.
- "Maximum Limit": The maximum value of the limit of user involvement that allows this status transition. The limit relates to the process, project, organisation or involvement role. The first of these with a value is used.
- "Automatically Try to Set Next Status": Indicates whether the application tries to set the next status automatically. This happens when the process meets the conditions and only one next step is possible. The attempt stops when there are several or no possible next steps.
- "PL/SQL Function": The name of a Boolean PL/SQL function that returns "true" or "not true". The process status transition is allowed when the function returns "true". The transition is not allowed when the function returns "not true" or null.
- "Explanation": Remarks on the purpose of the process status transition.
## Analyses
Building a workflow from process status transitions is flexible. It can be difficult, however, to determine which steps run when the application tries to reach the next status automatically. A single manual action can execute several steps at once, with associated actions triggered indirectly through additional business rules. The steps, including the steps taken automatically, are available afterwards in the screen [[Invantive Estate/Subjects/Advanced/Logging|Logging]].
