The "Menu Items" screen registers and changes menu items.
A menu item is a part of a menu. A menu item refers to a screen, a report or a submenu.
The entry fields have the following meaning:
- "Menu": The code of the menu that contains the menu item.
- "Sort Order": The numerical value that sorts the items in a menu.
- "Submenu": The name of the submenu to open when the menu item opens another menu.
- "Function": The name of the function to open when the menu item opens a screen or a report. The screen [[Invantive Estate/Subjects/Advanced/Functions|Functions]] indicates whether a function may be shown here.
- "Role": The role to which the menu item is shown, when the menu item may only be shown to a specific role. This differs from function security, because the role defines the display behaviour of each menu item and does not secure all menu items based on a function. Several menu items can be based on the same function, while each menu item is shown to a selected audience only. This avoids confusion, but it is not a security feature.
- "Menu Group": The group of the menu item within the menu. The menu separates menu groups from each other with a horizontal line.
- "Description": The description of the menu item. The description is translated, see "Translations".
- "Icon (URL)": The location of the icon of the menu item as a URL. When no path is specified, the path of the current site is used.
- "URL Parameters": The parameters that allow menu items to use custom templates. See Customize Screen Template. This applies to the web interface. The parameter `:fte_id` in the URL parameters is replaced by the ID of the chosen function. The parameter `:mim_id` is replaced by the ID of the menu item. These parameters can compose URLs that start reports through `bubs_rpt.do`. The Firefox extension URLParams can change the parameters easily.
The following fields are display-only:
- "Menu Code": The code of the menu that contains the menu item.
- "Description": The description of the menu.
- "Submenu Code": The code of the submenu.
- "Submenu": The description of the submenu.
- "Function": The code of the function.
- "Description": The description of the function.
