The "Monetary Units" screen records and changes currencies. Registering monetary units is a typical activity for application developers. See the warning under Application Development. The entry fields have the following meaning: - "Code": The ISO 4217 currency code. This international standard defines three-letter codes for currencies. - "Description": The description of the code. - "Presentation Symbol": The character that serves as currency symbol. Some currencies have no character of their own. In that case, the symbol `¤` is often used. - "Presentation mask": A pattern that describes how to display the amount after division by the divider. Each character in the presentation mask describes exactly one character in the presentation. The following characters are possible in the presentation mask: - `G`: the grouping character (in Europe this is a point `.`). - `D`: the decimal character (in Europe this is a comma `,`). - `9`: the digit at this position before or after the decimal character; before the decimal character it is only shown if at least one other digit other than 0 precedes it. - `0`: the digit at this position before or after the decimal character. The presentation mask `990D00` gives the following results: - `12.3` becomes `12.30`. - `0` becomes `0.00`.
