A statement over a table of a cloud platform returns forty columns where three are being looked at. The grid is arranged rather than the statement rewritten, and "Display Layout" keeps the arrangement for the next time. The button is on the toolbar of the results, and its menu offers "Save", "Load" and "Default". The layout is available from release 28.0. ## What Is Kept A layout keeps the arrangement of the grid as it is when "Save" is chosen: - the order, the width and the visibility of the columns, and the columns which are pinned; - the sort; - the grouped columns, with the direction of every group; - the summary of every column; - the filters, with their conditions and the values which were left out. ## Saving and Loading "Save" writes the arrangement to a file and says "Layout saved." on the status bar. A layout is saved and applied when the user asks for it, and not by itself: a filter which came back by itself would show less than the statement returned, without anyone asking for it. "Load" applies the layout which was saved for the columns of the result. It replaces what the grid has: first the columns, then the groups, the sort, the summaries and the filters. The status bar says "Layout applied.". "Load" is unavailable while no layout was saved for the columns of the result. A file which cannot be used, for example because it is damaged or written by a later version, is refused with the reason, and the grid stays as it was. "Default" gives back what the result had when it was shown: the columns in the order of the statement with widths which fit, and no groups, summaries or filters. A new result of a statement starts without filters, groups, summaries and pinned columns, so a layout is loaded again for every new result. ## Which Statements Share a Layout A layout belongs to the shape of the answer and not to the document. It is kept in a file of its own, named after the captions of the columns of the result. Every statement which returns the same columns finds the same layout, which is usually what is wanted. Two different statements which happen to select the same columns share a layout too. A statement which returns other columns has no layout, and opening such a result never changes the layout of another. The file is `Invantive-Query-Tool-Results-headers-<code>.json` in the folder `Layout` of the configuration folder, where `<code>` is a code of the captions; see [[Invantive Query Tool/Files and Folders|Files and Folders]]. The same folder holds the layouts of [[Invantive Query Tool/Column Layout|Invantive Query Tool]] for Microsoft Windows, which are files in another form with the extension `.xml`. The two products do not read each other's files. A layout holds the values which a filter keeps, and those can be data of a customer. The file lives in the folder of the user, as the layouts of the Windows product do. ## Example A result of the statement of [[Invantive Query Tool Multi-Platform/Results|Results]] is grouped on `CATEGORY` in descending order, the sum of `AMOUNT` is chosen and `AMOUNT` is filtered on the values above `3`. "Save" writes the layout. After the statement has been run again, the grid shows twelve rows without groups, summaries or filter, and "Load" gives back the arrangement: the groups `Gamma`, `beta` and `Alpha` with 2, 2 and 3 rows, and `Sum = 20,00` in the header of the group `Gamma`. "Default" then gives the twelve rows again, without groups, summary or filter.
