Not everything has to become a file. Three places put something on the clipboard, each answering another question. ## The Rows "Export" on the toolbar of the [[Invantive Query Tool/Results|Results]] panel writes to the clipboard as readily as to a file, for the formats which allow it - the text formats, the SQL statements, XML, JSON. Pasting into Microsoft Excel or into a message is then one step rather than a file which has to be found and deleted afterwards. What is copied is what the grid shows: the rows retrieved so far, in the order and the grouping they are shown in, without the hidden columns. See [[Invantive Query Tool/Exporting Results|Exporting Results]]. Cells selected in the grid are copied with Ctrl+C, a tab between the values and a line break between the rows, so that they land in separate cells of a spreadsheet. Up to and including release 26.0 the values were separated by a comma. Available from release 27.0. ## One Value "Copy Cell" on the context menu of the [[Invantive Query Tool/Connection Monitor|Connection Monitor]] copies the value under the pointer. It is what an identification, a message code or a long request address is taken with, without selecting it by hand. ## The Statement A statement in the [[Invantive Query Tool/History|History]] panel is copied back into a document, which is the shortest way to run something again which was run an hour ago. The history outlives the session, so a statement of yesterday is reachable the same way. ## What Not to Paste A statement, a row and a trace line can all hold the data of a customer. Pasting one into a message, a ticket or a forum post publishes it. A question is better built on the [[Invantive Query Tool/Sample Database|sample database]], which everybody can run and which holds nobody's data; see [[Invantive Query Tool/Troubleshooting|Troubleshooting]].
