"Preferences" on the "General" tab of the ribbon opens a window with a page per subject. Which pages are shown depends on what the connection offers and on what the user is allowed to see, so a connection without an Invantive repository shows fewer of them. ## General - "Your name": the name the application greets the user with and puts on what it produces. - "Language": the language of the user interface, chosen from the languages the installation carries. The choice takes effect where the application reads it; a window already open keeps the language it was built in. - "Reporting date": the date reports and statements which ask for it are run against, which is how a month already closed is looked at without changing anything else. It is offered where the connection has a repository which uses it; a connection which has none shows the name and the language alone. ## Personal Information The name, e-mail address and telephone number the application knows of the user. They are what Invantive Support is given when [[Invantive Query Tool/Help Menu|online assistance]] is asked for, and what the products print at start-up. The page is shown only where the user is allowed to see it. ## Statistics What this installation has done, read-only: the first use, the number of times the application was started, the moment of the first and the last log on, the failed log ons in a row, and the number and the moments of the attempts at online assistance. It answers "since when has this been installed and how much is it used", which a licence question usually comes down to. ## What Is Not Here The databases and their data containers are not configured here but in the [[Settings]] file, and credentials are held in the [[Invantive Keychain]]. Behaviour which belongs to the machine rather than to the user - the appearance, the trace, the language allowed - is set through [[Environment Variables]].
