"Selective Copy..." copies the model of an application, or chosen parts of it, into another application. It serves to start a new application from an existing one, or to carry parts of a model over to an application that already exists.
The command is on the context menu of an application in the tree, on the toolbar of the properties of an application, on the context menu of a row in the list of applications and on the toolbar of the details of an application. It opens the window "Copy Application". Each of these places offers the command only to a user who may change applications. Up to and including release 27.0 the context menu of the tree offers it to every user.
## The Window
The window shows the application that is copied as "Source" and asks for:
- "Point in Time": optionally a moment in the past. The model is then copied as it was at that moment, taken from its [[Invantive Studio/Repository/Concepts/History|history]]. Left empty, the current model is copied.
- "Code New Application": the code of the application that receives the copy.
Under "Include" a check box per part of the model chooses what is copied: the application itself, its users and languages, tables, table columns, indexes, index columns, referential constraints, attribute rules, business objects, reporting objects, view elements, view columns, modules, module parameters, module view usages, codes, code values, translations, server pages, glossaries, glossary terms, datasets, dataset mappings and dataset rows. "All" ticks every box. Every box starts unticked.
"OK" makes the copy and closes the window; the tree then shows the result. "Cancel" closes the window without copying.
## Copying into a New or an Existing Application
With "Applications" ticked, a new application is created under the code given. Without it, the parts are copied into the existing application with that code, which must then exist. A copied application is never marked as deployed, so it is not installed in the database until that is done on purpose.
