A partition divides the data of one installation between companies or groups that may not see each other's rows. A table takes part when its "Partition" option is switched on; it then has a partition column, and every row belongs to one partition. A user works in one partition per session, chosen when logging on. The business layer enforces it: - A new row gets the partition of the session. - A row of another partition cannot be inserted, updated or deleted. - Every business object shows only the rows of the partition of the session. The partitions are listed under "Partitions" and the users allowed in each under "Partition Users". A partition of Invantive Producer is a column of the application. It is unrelated to the partitioning of tables offered by the database.
