A point-in-time view shows a table or business object as it was at one moment. For every table with [[Invantive Studio/Repository/Concepts/History|history]] and for every business object built on such tables, a point-in-time view exists whose name has the first underscore replaced by `p`, such as `bubspfpt_r` for `bubs_fpt_r`. It has the same columns as the current view.
The moment is set per session. A user chooses it as the "Date Reporting" of the context settings, and a script or report sets it after logging on to the business layer. The point-in-time views then show the rows that were valid at that moment.
## Rows That Always Show the Current Situation
Applying one moment to every table gives strange results: a user who started recently could not report on a moment before their account existed. Some point-in-time views therefore always show the current rows, such as those for the context settings, the authorisations, the roles, the settings, the reporting units and the languages, and the list of users always contains the user who is logged on.
A report on an earlier moment can still be confusing, for instance when the context settings select a project that did not yet exist at that moment.
