Selecting a table or a business object in the tree shows the first rows of its data in the middle pane. For a table the preview shows its [[Invantive Studio/Repository/Concepts/Business Object|business object]] of the same name; for a table without one, or one that is not created in the database, no preview is shown. The preview shows at most 250 rows. The column headings carry the labels of the columns, and their tooltips the technical names. The grid is read-only and offers: - a filter on every column, - sorting on one or more columns with a click on the heading, - grouping by dragging a column heading to the area above the grid, - choosing the columns to show with the button in the top left corner, - summaries per column. The context menu of a cell offers "Save selected cell contents as file", "Copy column name of selected cell to clipboard", "Hide selected column", "Copy as List", "Copy as Sorted List" and "Copy as Sorted and Unique List". When the data cannot be read, the pane shows "Preview of data not available." The preview reads the business object as the user who is logged on, so it shows only the rows that user may see. In release 27.0 the preview fails with the message "A maximum length can only be specified for text and byte array columns." (code `itgenefd012`) when the business object has a column that holds no text, such as a number or a date. Nearly every business object has such a column. The middle and right panes then stay empty until another node is selected. Release 28.0 and its BETA release 27.1 correct this.
