The model of an application can be loaded into the repository from a control file and a data file in the [[Invantive Studio/Repository/Reference/Load Format|load format]]. The repository of Invantive Studio itself is installed this way: - Place `<application code>_metadata_repository.ctl` and `<application code>_metadata_repository.dat` in one folder. - Run Oracle SQL\*Loader from that folder, connected as the owner of the repository schema: ```bat sqlldr userid=<user>/<password>@<database> control=<application code>_metadata_repository.ctl ``` - Check the files `.bad` and `.discard` that SQL\*Loader writes beside the control file. A row in `.bad` was refused, for instance by a business rule of the repository; the log file of the run names the reason. The control rows at the start of the data file log on to the repository and switch the loading to update a row with the same [[Invantive Studio/Repository/Concepts/Natural Key|natural key]] instead of inserting it twice. Loading the same files again therefore updates the model rather than duplicating it. ## Prerequisites The loading requires: - The Oracle client with SQL\*Loader is installed. - The repository is installed in the schema.
