Invantive Studio opens the repository it last used, or asks for one:
- Start Invantive Studio. After the splash screen it connects to the database it was last connected to, or to the only favourite database.
- When no database can be chosen automatically, or the left `Ctrl` key is held during start-up, the log-on window opens. Choose the database that holds the repository and log on.
- The status line of the log-on shows the steps: "Connect.", "Check compatibility.", "Check license." and "Configure user.".
- The main window opens with the group "Applications" selected.
The log-on window lists only databases on Oracle, the platform the repository runs on. On another platform the log-on stops with "This application runs only on the database platform 'Oracle RDBMS'. Please choose a different database platform."
## Discovering Databases
At the first start, after an upgrade, when no databases are defined, or when the left `Ctrl` key is held, Invantive Studio first looks for databases on the workstation. When the last search is more than 90 days old, it asks first. Searching needs the right to discover connections.
## Starting from the Command Line
The command-line options are described in [[Invantive Studio/Command Line Options|Command Line Options]].
