"Compare Contents" shows the differences between two objects of the same kind, such as two business objects or two tables, including everything beneath them. The window "Compare Contents" is also where [[Invantive Studio/Repository/Version Control/Compare Applications|Compare Applications]] shows its result. ## Comparing Two Objects Two objects are compared as follows: - Tick the two objects in the tree with their check boxes. They must be of the same kind; a business object and a reporting view count as different kinds. - Choose "Compare Contents" in the drop-down list of "Compare Applications" under "Application" and "Version Control". - The window "Compare Contents" opens with the two objects as they are now. When more than two objects are ticked, the first two are compared. Objects of different kinds cannot be compared; Invantive Studio then offers to untick all objects. ## The Window The window shows two trees side by side. The left tree holds the original, the right tree the result, and the colours of the right tree show what changed: - black: unchanged; - blue and underlined: changed; - red and struck through: deleted; - green and bold: inserted. A node with a list beneath it shows the number of rows per kind of change, and its tooltip shows the number of rows before and after. Selecting a changed node shows, on the right, the properties that differ, with the changed characters marked in the same colours. "Only Show Differences" on the tab "Home" hides the nodes without a difference. "Create Patch" records the difference as a patch, as described in [[Invantive Studio/Repository/Version Control/Create a Patch|Create a Patch]]; the comparison window then closes.
