"Merge Applications" brings the changes made in a side branch of an application into its main branch. A side branch is a copy of the application, made for instance with [[Invantive Studio/Repository/Commands/Selective Copy|Selective Copy]], in which changes are developed apart from the main branch. The command is under "Application" and "Version Control". It needs the right to merge applications; without it, the command reports the missing right. The merge is made as follows: - Choose "Merge Applications". The window "Merge Applications" opens. - Under "Common Base of Versions" choose the application and the moment from which both branches started. - Under "Main Branch Application" and "Side Branch Application" choose the two branches. - Choose "Continue processing". - When the main branch changed since the common base, Invantive Studio asks whether to update the side branch first. Answering yes applies those changes to the side branch, after the list of changes has been shown as in [[Invantive Studio/Repository/Version Control/Apply a Patch|Apply a Patch]]; answering no stops the merge. - The changes of the side branch are then applied to the main branch, again after the list of changes has been shown. When the side branch holds no changes, Invantive Studio reports that it is identical to the main branch.
